Powers Brown Architecture has always supported the concept of “sustainability” in design. The thought process is such that “green building” is an extension of a good economic design. If you start with a good economic design, you will be on your way toward a product that is now being labeled “green” as your end product. This is a practice that has been in place with the principals for over thirty years. Today, with more and more environmental issues in the forefront, Powers Brown Architecture is ahead of the curve. The firm incorporates environmentally responsible and healthy products that meet the “green” definition on projects when program and budget allows. At this writing, the firm ranked number 12 by the Houston Business Journal “Green-Houston” list and has nine LEED projects in progress.

Powers Brown Architecture has five LEED Accredited professionals on staff: Principal Scott Forstell, AIA/LEED AP, Jeanette Robards, AIA/LEED AP, Ron Fuertes, AIA/LEED AP, Jim Halloran, LEED AP and Ashley Elks, LEED AP. Cost is the focus of LEED certification in projects. Powers Brown Architecture along with the project teams we assemble for individual projects are committed to building green buildings when program and budget allow. WYAK Midway Oak Park Office Building and 1254 Enclave Parkway have both received Pre-Certification by the USGBC (United States Green Building Council) . Other projects including Jebel Ali Café in Dubai, Advance Polybag office / manufacturing facility, and the Highlands School for GCCISD are all designed to various LEED certification levels, however the Highlands School, although fully commissioned will not be certified.
